    Adjust divorce decree

Three months after Hurricane Katrina, I went through a divorce.  In order to keep my 2 children safe, I signed a quick deed over to my ex-wife for my family home which was left to me by both of my deceased parents.  I signed it in order for a FEMA trailer to be put in.  At this point, my ex- and children are safely living in her fiancee house and my childhood home is sitting empty.  My name is still on the mortgage, but my ex- pays it.  Is there any way that I can adjust the divorce settlement and either get back into the house or have her sell it and I receive half the profits?

Where were you divorced? Different states handle this type of issue differently.

In Alabama, property settlements are not subject to modification more than 30 days after entry of the judgment of divorce. Your facts may have something different or additional which could give a different answer.

We were divorced in Mississippi.  Is it the same there?
