I can't believe it's already the second day! After having a busy night writing my article for the Press-Register, I managed to climb into bed at midnight. Maggie and I woke up early (aka I woke up Maggie early) to go to Bellingrath Gardens for breakfast with our host dad, Rob. I ate grits for the first time. They actually weren't bad; they were palatable, but I wouldn't eat them everyday. Later, we went outside for pictures in the garden with the Trail Maids! We all piled into vans and drove to the church for orientation, which lasted quite awhile. After lunch, we spent the afternoon in wardrobe, hair and make-up, and talent costume sessions. I can't wait to wear the outfits- they are so cute. The high heels for opening number makes me alittle nervous =]
We began the opening number with the choreographer and the dance is great so far and I can't wait to see how it turns out onstage. We later toured the USS Alabama and climbed into the ship on steep stairs. Line dancing was later! I put on my jean skirt, cowboy hat, and bandana shirt--- and my flip flops! We started with some line dancing and I then I had my first interview with the press. Dinner was barbeque- pulled pork, chicken, sweet tea, potato salad, and coleslaw! Partner dancing was great and the caller Lamar, had everyone laughing!
There is a lot going on tomorrow, including rehearsal and the luau, so I will have to talk about that tomorrow =] =]=]
