Hey y'all! I'm having a great time in Alabama! :) No.. I don't really say "y'all yet, but I swear I can hear myself picking up the accent. It's funny to me because the girls here say I have a thick, northern accent -- I wonder what I sound like to them!
Today was so much fun. I started out at Bellingrath Gardens for Breakfast and a brief covering of rules, etc. The gardens were breathtaking and I got a lot of really neat pictures.. and some with the trail maids too( they are a big deal in the south.. upcoming seniors with high GPAs and high standings in their community where huge old fashioned dresses... really neat to see and they will be following the Junior Misses throughout our stay). After that we had orientation, and I was very excited to find out that we will be getting our hair and makeup done for all of the performances! It kind of takes the stress out of worrying about forgetting a hair product, anything, b/c they will supply it all! We also tried on all of our costumes today, and, I don't want to give too much away, but I will say they are extremely cute outfits!! Finally, the day ended with us viewing the Alabama battleship followed by line dancing... anyone who knows me well knows I LOVE to dance, so I had the time of my life. This elderly gentlemen taught the dances, and I definitely had to keep up with his fast moving feet!
I'm excited for the luao tomorrow and I will let you know how it goes. I am having the time of my life, and making so many friends.. from all over the United States! Pretty awesome :)
