Hey everyone!!!
So the first day is winding down, and I don't even know how to begin to describe my experiences so far. I was lucky to even get to Mobile, first of all, after switching my airline, my flight, and having too many bags, one of them weighing 77 lbs. It all worked out though (thank goodness!!). I arrived in Mobile aboard a plane with Miss South Dakota, Miss Louisiana, Miss West Virginia, and Miss Arizona. We had NO clue as to the extent of our surprise at the airport -- Bows at every gate, huge welcoming banners, colorful signs, a band, Azalea Trail Maides (girls dressed as southern belles in tremendous pastel frocks), flowers, balloons, and FANS GALORE! Our host families, Girl Scout Troops, State sponsors, NBC 15, and AJM 2007 herself Nora Ali all excitedly welcomed us. We were introduced and escorted into the party. I have never felt like such a princess!!!
We were then taken back to where we stay for the next two weeks, with our host families. Sam and I are staying with the Woods - Rob, Kristina, Taylor, Peyton, and RYAN (who is helping me type this : D ). We were greeted with our state flags hanging at the front of the house. I'm sure I can speak for both of us saying they've made us feel completely at home! The girls have assumed their roles in helping us get ready for the program -- Taylor the wardrobe stylist, Ryan the hairdresser, and Peyton the photographer, ha.We made homemade pizzas and chocolate chip cookies for dinner, and moved into our new rooms....so today has been nothing short of a whirlwind!
Tomorrow we go early, early to breakfast and then break for orientation and rehearsals, only to then continue to our Western line dancing party tomorrow night!! I can't wait! So, goodnight for now, and I'll keep everyone updated with a post tomorrow!
